Why is an MRI safe wheelchair important for your facility?
Because traditional MRI wheelchairs look exactly like regular hospital wheelchairs, both patients and hospitals are constantly at risk. When non-MRI wheelchairs enter the MRI unit by accident, patients can be injured or killed. And even if no one is hurt, it can cost up to $100,000 to shut down an MRI unit and power it back up again.
The Merlexi Craft MRI, in contrast, is uniquely styled and clearly marked to avoid confusion with non-MRI safe chairs.
The Merlexi Craft MRI is ergonomically designed for comfort, and has been tested at the University of Pittsburgh for long term durability equal to over 30 years of use. Our chairs are customizable and available in red, blue, yellow, or black. When not in use, they fold to just 13.5” with wheels attached, and only weigh 33 pounds, lessening strain on staff.
Merlexi Craft is approved as MRI Conditional at 3 Tesla from Dr. Frank Shellock/Magnetic Resonance Safety Testing Services (MRSTS).*
